The wonder of food, and why food photography, especially, is so visually compelling, has inspired me to create work in my fine art practice, that references the pleasurable, often sensual and visceral character of styled food and food imagery. The subject of this food related work ultimately points to desire and dissappointment and explores and plays with a variety of non-food materials, such as foam, silicon, plaster, concrete and found objects. This series of sculptural work references the desirable aspects of food, often in an exaggerated manner, in an attempt to expose and toy with contemporary notions of sensuality, by exploring the seductive quality of the hyper-real and abstract.
